Our training methods are "achievable" and effective. Give the horse a choice. You can't force a 1000 lb. animal, so don't try. Create "pressure" for the wrong choice and reward with "release" for the right choice. Make the right choice the comfortable choice. By applying the ingredients with the pressure & release, the results are a safer horse, happy in his choice, therefore happy in his work, resulting in a happier relationship between horse and owner. One based on trust and respect not fear and force.
Before taking on any horse for training, we will do an evaluation of the horse and discuss in length your goals. We believe in communication with the owner and setting realistic, achievable goals for the both the horse and the owner.

Jody and Dawn are experienced horse people. Jody is a gifted trainer, employing what most would define as "natural horsemanship" techniques. Dawn has been fortunate enough to have her husband as both her teacher and her partner. They aren't about demonstrating or training techniques that you will go home and fail to complete. They have clear cut & completely achievable way of both motivating you and explaining to you in a way that you can understand and translate with your horse. Jody and Dawn encompass what's called "Achievable Horsemanship". They both have dedicated to helping people learn to respect the horse, so the horse can respect you. |

Our Training Philosophy… It doesn't take supernatural powers to train horses….it does, however, require some very critical ingredients:
Patience, to break the training into small steps, and to ask and wait for the correct response. The next step should not be rushed into, until the previous step is thoroughly understood;
Consistency, to ask the same thing, the same way, each and every time;
Repetition, to ask as many times as it takes until the horse is trained in that particular behavior; and
An Eye & A Natural Feel, for horses so you can see resistance and give, no matter how small it may be. |

Honestly, not every person can train horses, but everyone who is a horse owner does have the ability and the responsibility to learn and apply the basics. There are no such things as absolutes--horses are living beings that come in all shapes, sizes, temperaments and dispositions. Not every training process will be equally effective on every horse. The key is being in tune with the horse and to work with what they are being responsive to, and building on that. |
